Why Wordpress Developemt?How To Start?

WordPress is a very famous and useful open source CMS system. So if you want to be a web developer knowing how to use WordPress and even programming in WordPress, create your own theme and create your own plugin is very useful for your web developer career.

Download 3 systems into our computer.

1st Download XAMPP –

Click Here To Download – XAMPP is a development environment. So using Xammp we can develop the system in our localhost. So we don’t need to buy a hosting or cloud server from a hosting company after you download it to your computer and you open it this is what XAMPP Control Panel looks like.

2nd Download WordPress –

Click Here To Download – Use the software that powers over 43% of the web. Beautiful designs, powerful features, and the freedom to build anything you want. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

3rd Download Visual Studio Code

Click Here To Download – Visual Studio Code is a lightweight but powerful source code editor which runs on your desktop and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It comes with built-in support for JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js and has a rich ecosystem of extensions for other languages (such as C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP, Go) and runtimes (such as .NET and Unity).

Get Started With phpMyAdmin

phpMyAdmin is a free software tool written in PHP, intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. phpMyAdmin supports a wide range of operations on MySQL and MariaDB. Frequently used operations (managing databases, tables, columns, relations, indexes, users, permissions, etc) can be performed via the user interface, while you still have the ability to directly execute any SQL statement.

Create your username and password in phpMyAdmin:

Open XAMPP and look at the phpMyAdmin file. You have to find a file called config.inc.php, right click this file and click on ‘Open With’ and select Visual Studio code and you will see this file. This is the file you store your phpMyAdmin username and password. In my case my username is root ROOT then you have to save your password here.

Install WordPress file into XAMMP/htdocs

Create a new folder to give this folder a name as you like after creating a folder then you open that folder. We have to transfer the downloaded WordPress file from another file to this folder.

Create Database

Open your XAMPP control panel first you click on start to start the Apache, then you click start to start my SQL. The port number is very important in order to open your file. Phpmyadmin let us create our database so click on the database and give a database name. You can set whatever you like just for your own reference, but you have to remember this database name you set because you are going to use it to connect your WordPress after you key in the database name then you click create, then your database will show in this table so after we create the database we are ready to log in our WordPress system.

Log into WordPress Dashboard

We go to the browser, then we can key in localhost colon, your port number, (this port number is from your XAMPP control panel). You have to look at your port number and then you have to key in slash, then the folder name created in your htdocs, then slash wp-login. For example http://localhost:YOUR PORT NUMBER/NAME OF HTDOCS FOLDER/wp-login.php. After you key in your URL and press enter, then you have to go through a setup process.

Create Your Own Theme File

Create a folder inside: \XAMPP\htdocs\YOURFOLDERNAME\wp-content\themes. Create 3 files inside that folder: index.php, style.css, and screenshot.png

Customize theme name, author, and version: create comment line on the top of style.css file:

/*
    Theme Name: Your Theme Name
    Author: Author Name
    Version: Version Number
*/

Last step of this tutorial: upload an image as the screenshot image of your theme and name it as screenshot.png

Yes, we have done!

Alright, this is the first tutorial of our WordPress theme development the next video we are going to learn more about PHP. PHP is a very important language for WordPress development because WordPress is built by PHP so see u in the next video.
